Men's aesthetics at ZARA Aesthetic Medical Clinic, 304 Edgware Road, London W2, covers what men raise with us most: a hairy back or a messy beard edge, shine and razor bumps, thinning hair, a jaw that has lost its edge, and unwanted tattoos.
Nothing is booked blind. A free consultation comes first, where we look at the concern, check your health and medicines, and tell you which option fits, what it costs and what you will look like for the next few days. Sometimes the honest answer is your GP rather than a treatment, and we will say so.
Back, chest and beard-line hair
Laser hair removal is the most common reason men book with us. We use diode laser and IPL for long-term reduction: hairs return finer, slower or fewer, and occasional top-ups are normal. Men usually ask about the back and shoulders, chest and stomach, the neck, or a crisper cheek line for a beard, either cleared or simply thinned.
Body areas typically take six to eight sessions, while beard hair is more stubborn and tends to need more. Grey and fair hair respond poorly. A patch test comes first, and the price is set at consultation by area. See laser hair removal for men.
Oily skin, blackheads and shaving irritation
Shine by midday, blackheads and a red, bumpy neck after shaving are common complaints. A HydroFacial at £80 is an easy first step, while the carbon laser peel at £130 targets oil and pores that look large, usually over a course. Our men's facial page compares every facial by concern, from the £65 Mini Facial upwards.
For milder active spots, the Acne treatment is £145 and the Acne facial £175, while deep or painful acne belongs with your GP first. Once spots have settled, pitted scars can be softened over a course of microneedling at £120 a session. See acne treatment, large pores treatment and acne scar treatment.
Thinning hair on the scalp
PRP hair treatment uses plasma prepared from a small sample of your own blood, injected into thinning areas of the scalp. It is mainly considered for gradual, pattern-type thinning in men and women where follicles remain. Some people see thicker-looking hair or less shedding over a course, others see little change, and long-bald areas will not regrow. PRP Hair is £150 per session. If hair is falling out suddenly or in patches, see your GP first so the cause can be checked.
A sharper jaw, a stronger chin and tired eyes
Men who ask about jawline filler usually want a squarer, more angular jaw. A firm hyaluronic acid gel is placed close to the bone, and the temporary result commonly lasts a year or more. Chin filler can bring a set-back chin forward, and men often prefer a broader shape. Both are priced at consultation and only for adults aged 18 and over.
For crepey, tired skin under the eyes, our under-eye treatment uses polynucleotides over a short course. They improve skin quality but will not fill a hollow or shrink bags.
Firmer skin and a softer double chin
If your jaw outline is starting to blur, HIFU uses focused ultrasound with no needles, building change over two to three months, priced at consultation. Skin tightening compares it with PDO threads. These suit mild to moderate laxity, and heavy loose skin is better assessed by a surgeon.
Fullness under the chin is common in slim men too. For a soft pocket of fat, fat dissolving injections are planned and priced at consultation, usually as a course, with the product confirmed there too. It is not a weight loss treatment. See double chin treatment.
Old tattoos, and time out with cupping
Laser tattoo removal fades body tattoos over a course, often six to twelve sessions spaced six to eight weeks apart. Fading for a cover-up generally takes fewer sessions than full removal, which cannot be promised. The price depends on size and colours.
Cupping therapy is something men often book simply to unwind, with Cupping (back) at £50. It is not offered as a treatment for any medical condition, so ongoing pain or an injury is one for your GP or a physiotherapist.
What should you expect from your first visit?
Appointments run from 10:30am to 8pm Monday to Saturday and 1pm to 5pm on Sundays and bank holidays, so most men come after work or at the weekend. Your first visit is a consultation with no obligation to go ahead.
Downtime is usually short. Most people go straight back to their day after a HydroFacial, and HIFU rarely keeps anyone off work. Microneedling leaves the face flushed for one to three days, and swelling under the chin after fat dissolving can show for several days.
Who should wait or choose another route?
We hold off if the skin in the area is infected, inflamed or broken, and laser, IPL and tattoo removal are not suitable on a fresh tan or self-tan. Light-sensitising medicines such as isotretinoin rule out several treatments. A new or changing mole, or sudden hair loss, should be seen by your GP first.
Close to Marylebone, Paddington and Maida Vale
ZARA is about 50 metres from the Bakerloo line entrance at Edgware Road station, and Marylebone station is roughly a nine-minute walk. To book a free consultation, use the booking form, message us on WhatsApp on 07479 973309 or call 020 4619 8781.
Men's aesthetics: your questions answered
Are men's treatments different from women's?
The methods are generally the same. The plan changes: men often have denser body hair, oilier skin and different goals for the jaw and chin.
Will people be able to tell I have had something done?
Most of these treatments give gradual change, and after HIFU friends tend to say you look well rather than spot a treatment. Swelling after filler or fat dissolving shows for a while, so plan the timing.
Can I train at the gym after treatment?
Usually not straight away. Skip the gym for 24 to 48 hours after laser hair removal, for 24 hours after microneedling, and for a day or two after jaw or chin filler. After PRP, avoid heavy exercise for 24 to 48 hours.
Should I shave before an appointment?
For laser hair removal, shave the area about 24 hours beforehand and stop waxing or plucking for about four weeks. For a facial, shave the day before rather than that morning. After jaw filler you may be asked not to shave the area for the rest of the day.
How much do men's treatments cost?
Prices are per session: the Mini Facial is £65, the HydroFacial £80, the Carbon Peel (face) £130 and PRP Hair £150. Laser hair removal, HIFU, tattoo removal and jaw or chin filler are priced at consultation, because the cost depends on the area and plan.
I am not sure what I need. What should I book?
Book a free consultation and describe the concern in your own words. We will suggest a treatment, tell you if none is needed, or point you to your GP where that makes more sense.
