A HydroFacial at ZARA is a hydrodermabrasion-style facial that cleanses, exfoliates, extracts and hydrates the skin in one appointment. It suits most skin types, particularly skin that feels congested, dull or dehydrated, and most people go straight back to their day. It costs £80 per session at our clinic at 304 Edgware Road, London W2, about 50 metres from Edgware Road Bakerloo line station.
What is a HydroFacial?
A HydroFacial is a machine-assisted facial built on a technique called hydrodermabrasion. A handpiece passes over the skin while delivering fluid and applying gentle suction at the same time, so the surface is exfoliated and rinsed rather than scrubbed dry.
The treatment works in stages. The skin is cleansed, then exfoliated, then the suction is used to lift debris from congested pores, and finally hydrating solutions are worked into the freshly cleared surface. Because each stage flows into the next, the whole thing feels more like a facial than a procedure.
Please note that ZARA lists this treatment as a HydroFacial. It is a hydrodermabrasion-style facial and we do not claim to use any particular branded device. If you want to know exactly what equipment and solutions we use, just ask at your consultation.
What a HydroFacial in London W2 can help with
City skin picks up a lot over a week. Traffic on Edgware Road, central heating, air conditioning on the Tube and long screen days all leave their mark. A HydroFacial is a sensible reset for skin that looks tired rather than skin with a specific medical concern.
- Congestion, blackheads and a build-up of dead skin on the nose, chin and forehead
- Skin that feels tight or dehydrated, especially in winter
- Dullness and an uneven-looking surface
- Make-up that sits unevenly because of dry patches or flaking
- Preparing skin before an event, when you want something gentle
Who it suits, and when to wait
Most adults with normal, oily, combination or dry skin are suitable. People with sensitive skin often tolerate it well because the exfoliation is fluid-based, though we will always check how your skin reacts first.
There are times when it makes sense to hold off or choose something else. We will go through your medical history before treating you.
- Active skin infections, cold sores or open wounds on the face
- A flare of rosacea, eczema or dermatitis in the treatment area
- Recent use of isotretinoin, or strong prescription retinoids, without your prescriber's advice
- Sunburn, or a recent chemical peel or laser treatment
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding, where we may suggest a simpler facial and will discuss the options with you
What happens at your HydroFacial appointment
Every treatment at ZARA starts with a consultation, and the appointment is booked as 40 minutes. Here is how it usually runs.
- We talk through your skin, your routine, any medication and what you would like to improve.
- Make-up and surface oil are removed with a cleanse.
- The hydrodermabrasion handpiece exfoliates the surface while rinsing it.
- Gentle suction lifts debris from congested pores, focusing on the T-zone.
- Hydrating solutions are applied across the face.
- We finish with a moisturiser and SPF and give you aftercare advice for the next few days.
Results and how often to book
Many people notice that their skin looks clearer and feels softer when they leave. Any pinkness usually settles within a few hours. How long that fresh look lasts varies from person to person and depends on your skin type, your routine at home and the time of year.
Because a HydroFacial works on the surface of the skin, the effect is temporary. Some clients book one before a holiday or a big occasion, while others come back every four to six weeks as part of their routine. We will suggest a frequency once we have seen how your skin responds, and we will not push you into a package.
Aftercare and possible side effects
Side effects are usually mild. Some people have slight redness or a warm, tight feeling for a few hours, and occasionally a small breakout appears as congestion settles. Rarely, sensitive skin can become irritated. We will discuss these with you before treatment.
For the next 24 to 48 hours, keep your routine simple. Skip saunas, steam rooms and hard workouts on the day, hold off on exfoliating acids and retinoids for a couple of days, and wear a broad-spectrum SPF every morning. If you can, leave make-up off until the evening so the skin can settle.
HydroFacial price at ZARA, Edgware Road
A HydroFacial costs £80 per session. That includes your consultation and aftercare advice. As with every treatment on our price list, your final plan and price are confirmed at consultation before anything is done.
If your skin needs more than surface work, we may talk you through other options. Textured or scarred skin may be better suited to collagen-stimulating microneedling, and oily skin with visible pores sometimes responds well to a carbon laser peel. You can compare everything on our full treatment list.
Why people from Marylebone, Paddington and Maida Vale book with us
The clinic sits at 304 Edgware Road, about 50 metres from the Bakerloo line entrance at Edgware Road station. The Circle, District and Hammersmith & City line station on Chapel Street is a two to three minute walk. That makes the trip short from Marylebone, Paddington Basin and Paddington Green and Maida Vale on the Bakerloo line.
We are open Monday to Saturday from 10:30am to 8pm, and on Sundays and bank holidays from 1pm to 5pm, so a 40-minute facial fits around work. ZARA holds a 4.8 rating from over 100 Google reviews. To book, message us on WhatsApp on 07479 973309, call 020 4619 8781 or use the booking form.
HydroFacial: your questions answered
Is your HydroFacial a branded device treatment?
ZARA offers a hydrodermabrasion-style facial that we call a HydroFacial. We do not claim to use any specific branded device. The idea is similar: the skin is cleansed, exfoliated, decongested and hydrated in one session. Ask us at consultation if you would like details of the equipment.
Does a HydroFacial hurt?
Most people find it comfortable. The suction feels like a gentle pulling or tickling sensation, and the fluid can feel cool. If any area feels too sensitive, we can lower the intensity.
Can I wear make-up after a HydroFacial?
It is better to leave your skin bare for the rest of the day if you can. If you have plans that evening, a light mineral make-up applied with clean brushes is the gentler choice.
Will a HydroFacial clear my acne?
It can help with surface congestion and blackheads, but it is not a medical treatment for acne. If you have inflamed or cystic breakouts, we may suggest you see your GP or a dermatologist, and we will advise on whether a facial is suitable at that point.
How many HydroFacials do I need?
One session is enough to see whether you like it. People who want to keep their skin feeling clear often book every four to six weeks, but there is no set number and we will be honest about whether more sessions are worthwhile for you.
Can I have a HydroFacial before a wedding or event?
Yes, and it is one of the gentler options for that. We usually suggest booking it two to five days beforehand so any redness has well and truly settled, and trying one earlier if you have never had one.
Can I combine a HydroFacial with other treatments?
Sometimes. Combining treatments depends on your skin and what else is planned, so we will set out a sensible order and spacing at your consultation rather than stacking everything into one day.
