Mesotherapy is a skin treatment that uses many tiny, shallow injections to deliver a blend of ingredients such as vitamins, amino acids and hyaluronic acid into the middle layer of the skin. People choose it for dull, dehydrated or crepey skin. At ZARA, 304 Edgware Road, London W2, Mesotherapy Face is £180, Neck £150 and Hands £250.

For adults aged 18 and over only, and we may ask for photo ID.

How mesotherapy works

The name comes from the mesoderm, the layer of skin the treatment targets. A practitioner uses a very fine needle to place small droplets of a solution just under the surface, often in a grid pattern across the area being treated.

The exact blend depends on the product chosen for you, which we will explain at consultation. Common ingredients include hyaluronic acid for hydration, plus vitamins, minerals and amino acids. The idea is to support the skin locally, where it is needed, rather than relying only on what a cream can reach from the surface.

Face, neck or hands: choosing your mesotherapy area

One reason people book mesotherapy in London is that it can be used on areas that are often overlooked. The face gets most of the attention, but the neck and the backs of the hands can show dryness and crepiness just as clearly.

Each area is priced and planned separately, because the skin is different in each place. Neck skin is thinner and more delicate. Hands are exposed to sun, cold and constant washing, which is why some people want them to match a face they already look after.

  • Face: dull tone, dehydration, fine lines and uneven texture
  • Neck: crepey skin and fine horizontal lines that make the neck look older than the face
  • Hands: thin, dry skin on the backs of the hands where veins and tendons look more visible

Is mesotherapy right for you?

Mesotherapy tends to suit adults who want a gradual improvement in skin quality and are happy to commit to a short course. It is a subtle treatment, so it is a poor fit if you are hoping for lift, volume or a dramatic change. In that case we may point you towards PDO thread lifting or another option.

We will not go ahead if the treatment is unlikely to help or if your health means it is better to wait. Let us know if any of the points below apply to you.

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Active infection, eczema flare, cold sores or open skin in the treatment area
  • Bleeding disorders or blood-thinning medicines
  • Known allergy to any ingredient in the proposed solution
  • Certain medical conditions or treatments that affect healing, which we will ask about

Your mesotherapy appointment, step by step

Sessions at ZARA are booked as 40 minutes, and every first visit begins with a consultation and medical assessment. You are welcome to ask questions at any point.

  1. We talk through your concerns, health history and which area you would like treated.
  2. Your practitioner explains the proposed solution, the number of sessions usually advised and the cost.
  3. The skin is cleansed and prepared, and we discuss ways to keep you comfortable.
  4. Small amounts of the solution are injected across the area with a very fine needle.
  5. The skin is soothed and you receive written or verbal aftercare advice before you go.

Results you can expect from a course

Mesotherapy is usually done as a course rather than a one-off. A typical plan might involve several sessions a couple of weeks apart, though your own plan is set at consultation. Many people notice their skin looks fresher and better hydrated as the course goes on.

Improvements are gradual and vary from person to person. Results are not permanent, because the skin keeps ageing and the ingredients are absorbed over time. Occasional maintenance sessions are commonly suggested to keep skin looking its best for you.

Aftercare and side effects of mesotherapy

Right after treatment, the area often shows small raised bumps where the solution was placed. These usually settle within a few hours to a day. Redness, mild swelling, tenderness and small bruises are also common. Less often, people experience infection, a skin reaction or longer-lasting marks. We will discuss all of this before you decide.

  • Leave the skin bare of make-up for around 12 hours where possible
  • Avoid heat, saunas, swimming pools and intense workouts for 24 to 48 hours
  • Do not massage the area or apply strong active skincare for a few days
  • Wear sunscreen daily, especially on treated hands and neck
  • Contact the clinic if redness or swelling increases rather than settles

Mesotherapy: your questions answered

Which area should I start with?

Most people start with the area that bothers them most. If your face and neck look noticeably different, some choose to treat both. We will help you prioritise at consultation so you do not spend on an area that does not need it.

How is mesotherapy different from microneedling?

Both use needles, but in different ways. Mesotherapy injects a solution into the skin, while microneedling creates tiny channels in the surface to prompt the skin's own repair response. They can sometimes be used in the same plan.

Can I treat my hands and face on the same day?

That may be possible within your appointment, depending on your assessment and the plan agreed. Each area is priced separately, and we will confirm timing when you book.

Will people be able to tell I have had it done?

For a few hours you may have visible bumps and some redness. After that, the effect is usually subtle, and most people simply say your skin looks well. Results vary from person to person.

Does mesotherapy help with hair thinning?

Mesotherapy is sometimes used on the scalp elsewhere, but our listed treatments cover the face, neck and hands. If you are concerned about thinning hair, read about our PRP option for the scalp and ask at consultation.

When will I see a difference?

Some people notice their skin feels more hydrated after the first session, but changes are usually more noticeable across a course. Your practitioner will review progress with you at each visit.

Can I have mesotherapy before a holiday?

It is best to leave at least a week or two between treatment and a sunny holiday, so any marks have settled and you are not exposing freshly treated skin to strong sun.
