Jawline filler is a firm hyaluronic acid gel placed along the jawbone to improve definition, straighten the jaw's outline and balance the lower face. It suits adults who want a clearer jaw without surgery and accept a temporary result. At ZARA Aesthetic Medical Clinic on Edgware Road, London W2, jawline filler is priced at consultation after a medical assessment.
For adults aged 18 and over only. UK law does not allow anti-wrinkle injections or dermal fillers for cosmetic purposes on anyone under 18, and we may ask for photo ID.
What jawline filler is
A defined jawline is mostly about a clean edge: the line that runs from just below the ear, around the angle of the jaw and forward to the chin. When that edge is soft or broken up, the lower face can look less structured, even in people who are slim.
Jawline filler uses a firm, supportive hyaluronic acid gel placed close to the bone along this line. It adds a little projection where it's needed, which can sharpen the angle of the jaw and help light and shadow fall more crisply along the edge.
Because the gel is firm and sits deep, it behaves differently from the soft filler used in lip enhancement, and it is planned with the whole lower face in mind.
What jawline filler can help with
Men often ask for a squarer, stronger angle, while women more often want a smooth, slimmer-looking line that tapers neatly to the chin. The technique and amount differ for each goal, and we'll talk through which suits your face.
Your profile matters as much as the front view. The jaw and chin meet at the front of the face, so a jaw that looks soft from the side is sometimes improved partly by work at the chin. We'll explain the reasoning if we think that applies to you.
- A jaw angle that looks soft or rounded, especially in side profile
- Early loss of definition along the jaw as the face changes with age
- Slight asymmetry between the left and right sides of the jaw
- A small dip in front of the jowl area that breaks up the jaw's outline
- A jaw that looks short or narrow in proportion to the rest of the face
When jawline filler may not suit you
Treatment is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with active skin infection along the jaw, or if you've had a reaction to filler before. Some autoimmune conditions and medicines that affect bleeding can also make treatment less suitable, so bring a list of what you take.
Filler won't slim a jaw that looks wide because of a strong chewing muscle, and it can't tighten loose skin or remove fat under the chin. Where heavy jowling or skin laxity is the main issue, adding filler alone may not give a clean result. If that's the case we'll tell you and talk about alternatives, which could include thread lifting or fat dissolving under the chin.
Your jawline filler appointment
Appointments are booked as 40 minutes and start with a consultation.
- We discuss your goals and your medical history, including any previous filler.
- We assess your jaw from the front, both sides and from below, as jawline changes are easiest to judge in profile.
- We agree a plan and likely amount, and explain side effects and aftercare.
- The skin is cleansed and filler is placed in small amounts along the jawbone.
- We check symmetry on both sides, then you review the result in the mirror.
Results and how long jawline filler lasts
You'll typically see a change by the end of the appointment, with the final shape clearer after around two weeks once any swelling settles.
Firm gels placed deep along the jaw tend to last longer than filler in mobile areas. Results commonly last a year or more, but this varies from person to person and depends on the product, the amount and your metabolism.
Some people prefer to build definition over two appointments rather than in one, which also gives you time to get used to the change.
Aftercare and possible side effects
Swelling, tenderness and bruising along the jaw are common for a few days, and chewing may feel a little sore at first. The area can feel firm to the touch for a week or two. Avoid pressing or massaging the jaw unless advised to, and skip strenuous exercise, saunas and alcohol for a day or two.
Men are often asked to avoid shaving the area for the rest of the day. Rare complications, including infection or filler affecting a blood vessel, will be explained at your consultation, and you should contact the clinic straight away if you notice increasing pain or skin colour changes.
Jawline filler price at ZARA
Dermal filler Jawline is priced at consultation. The amount needed for a clear result varies a great deal, so we give you a price once we've assessed your jaw. Prices are per session.
Many people pair jaw work with chin projection, since the two areas meet. Our chin filler treatment page explains that side of the lower face.

Jawline filler: your questions answered
How much does jawline filler cost at ZARA?
Dermal filler Jawline is priced at consultation, because the amount needed depends on your face and goals. You'll know the price before treatment starts.
Is jawline filler popular with men?
Yes, men often ask about jawline filler for a stronger, more angular jaw. The plan is different from one aimed at a softer, tapered line.
Will jawline filler get rid of jowls?
It can help blur a small dip in front of the jowls, but it won't remove loose skin or fat. We'll be honest about whether filler is the right tool for you.
Will my jaw look wider?
Not if it's planned carefully. The aim is usually definition at the edge, not extra width, and we'll talk through how your jaw shape will change.
Does chewing feel strange afterwards?
The jaw may feel tender when chewing for a few days. Softer foods can help at first. Contact us if discomfort increases rather than easing.
How long should I leave before an event?
Around two weeks is sensible, so that any swelling or bruising has time to settle.
Can jawline filler be adjusted later?
Small top-ups are common as filler softens. Hyaluronic acid filler can usually be dissolved if needed, which we'll explain at consultation.
Is jawline filler worth it if I'm young and slim?
Age and weight aren't the deciding factors. Some slim people in their twenties have a naturally soft jaw angle and like the extra definition, while others don't need it. We'll give you an honest view at consultation.
